Chalkboard Cafe in Seaside

Perched over the Necanicum River in historic Gilbert, the Chalkboard Cafe is a cheerful little space bursting with color and the quirky charm of the Oregon Coast of old, complete with hand-painted murals of the region’s flora and fauna, moon calendars and wind catchers, and a rack of tie dye clothing for sale.

The Chalkboard Cafe proudly incorporates as many locally sourced ingredients as possible into their menu, which includes breakfast and lunch made fresh all day. Order at the counter for a creative spin on the classics: a “Redneck Benedict” offers a sort of classic Benedict/biscuits and gravy mashup, while the Philly Breakfast Sandwich gives you an excuse to eat a cheesesteak before noon.

Lunch options focus on comfort foods, including the ever-popular Philly Cheesesteak and its “French Cousin,” both served on fresh-baked hoagies with top-secret proprietary “Crazy” sauce. Clam chowder and a rotating seasonal soup are made fresh from scratch each day.

Chalkboard Cafe also bakes everything in house: you’re likely to find fresh quiche on the menu, along with a decadent selection of fresh-baked goods including assorted daily muffins, an array of cookies, and puff pastries in sweet and savory options.
