The food at Daphne is Pacific Northwest cooking at its finest: dishes are both humble and upscale, designed to celebrate the foods and flavors of our region. You’ll find this hidden gem in an inviting little space on the west end of downtown Astoria, just a block from the Riverwalk along the Columbia.
Daphne’s menu changes weekly, allowing Chef Jake Martin to play with the extreme seasonality of the North Coast’s local ingredients. His wife and business partner Silqet Ra, previously the program manager for Astoria’s North Coast Food Web, draws on her connections with local farms, ranches, fishers, and even foragers to source fresh, local foods year-round.
Order from a selection of small and large plates, a thoughtfully curated list of biodynamic and natural wines and spirits, and decadent desserts. Or opt for the endlessly inventive tasting menu with optional wine pairing for a flavor-forward tour of what’s in season on the day of your visit. Though the menu is never the same twice, you can expect six artful courses that feature smoked and fresh-caught fishes, local meats, and seasonal vegetables, all plated with inviting touches from inventive sauces to edible flowers.
Call or text ahead to reserve a table in the cozy but elevated dining room. Substitutions are politely declined, but Daphne’s knowledgeable and exceptional front-of-house staff are eager to help customers with dietary restrictions find what works for them.
