Rockaway Beach residents Julie and Jason Maxfield were troubled by the lack of grocery options in their community. Though they were surrounded by local producers growing and making incredible food, they lacked a way to purchase those items. That inspired them to open Green Coast Market, a local foods grocery store that offers a year-round farmers market experience celebrating the bounty of the North Coast.
The Green Coast Market now has goods from dozens of local producers on display. Shop fresh seasonal veggies from local farms like Josi’s, Circe’s Garden, and Fawcett Creek Farm; eggs from Zweifel’s and milk from Bennett Family Farm; or frozen and cured meats from Heritage Family Farms or The Beautiful Pig. Enjoy baked goods from a number of the area’s bakers, or grab some locally roasted coffee from Wolf Moon. Stock up your pantry with oils and seasonings from Durant Olive Oil, Jacobsen Salt, Oregon Seaweed, and Hot Winter Hot Sauce. And shop local wines, beers, and ciders from their fully stocked fridge.
The Green Coast Market opened in Spring 2025 and is steadily expanding its hours of operation as well as its inventory. Stay tuned for pop-up events with local producers and features for seasonal specialty items.
